The Pigs
Today's pigs live in barns and have clean feed and water available daily. Heaters, fans, misters, and other technologies help maintain a consistent temperature all year round inside the barns.
Pigs eat a diet, or ration, of corn and soybeans which is supplemented with vitamins and minerals. Pigs DO NOT eat slop!
The manure, or nutrients, is continually being collected and stored under the barn in pits, or outside the barn in lagoons. Being an organic fertilizer, manure is used to produce crops. Those crops are then harvested for feed for the animals, which, in turn, produce more manure. This continuous cycle is an integral part of a sustainable agricultural system.
